Serving South Florida Since 1985
Firm Profile

Jurisdictions Represented.  We practice in all state and federal courts throughout Florida, at both the trial and appellate levels, with most of our practice in the state and federal courts located in Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach Counties.  We also maintain business relationships with other attorneys located throughout the United States in order to assist our clients with their situations and needs that arise outside of Florida.

Primary Practice Areas.

Litigation.  We try cases.  We like to try cases.  We enjoy trying cases.  Do you want to avoid trial or would you prefer to mediate or settle your case instead of going to trial?  That's fine, but make sure you go with a firm that has a reputation for trying cases.  You can negotiate from a position of strength with Curran & Niles because we try cases.  Some of the types of cases we have tried include:

·        Business Tort Litigation (Fraud, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Interference with Business Relationships, Negligent Misrepresentation)

·        Construction Dispute Litigation

·        Contractual Dispute (Many Varieties) Litigation

·        Employment Related Dispute (Many Varieties) Litigation

·        Insurance Contract Litigation

·        Intellectual Property (Patent and Copyright) Litigation

·        Landlord - Tenant Dispute Litigation

·        Non-Competition / Restrictive Covenant Litigation

·        Probate Litigation

·        Products Liability Litigation

·        Professional Liability Litigation

·        Real Estate Litigation

·        Personal Injury / Wrongful Death Cases

·        Shareholder Disputes / Derivative Actions / Takeovers

·        Telecommunications Dispute Litigation

·        Appeals at state and federal levels

Non-Litigation.  There is one thing that is even more rewarding than prevailing in litigation:  Keeping our clients out of litigation altogether!  Over the course of representing clients in court, we have often formed bonds that have lasted for many, many years after the litigation was resolved.  It is not unusual to hear at our clients' board meetings:  "Let's not do anything on that until we run it by Curran & Niles so we don't end up having to call them later to represent us in litigation!"  These familiar, long-term, personal relationships allow us to be efficient and responsive to our clients' unique and changing needs.  We fill these non-litigation needs by careful transactional work in the following areas:

Formation of:  Corporations, Limited Liability Companies (LLC's), Partnerships, Limited Partnerships, Joint Ventures

Drafting of:  Shareholder Agreements, Non-Compete Agreements, Restrictive Covenants, Operating Agreements, Bylaws, Employment Agreements, Dissolution Agreements, Purchase/Sale Agreements

Reviewing:  General Contracts, Risk Management Scenarios, Intellectual Property Inventories, Premises Liability, Employment Policies and Procedures, Trade Secret Protection

Planning for:  Dissolutions, Reorganizations, Asset Purchases and Sales, Mergers

We are often asked about these areas, but we do not generally practice in these areas.  Having practiced in South Florida since 1955, however, our attorneys have established relationships with some of the best attorneys in these areas and we will be more than happy to help you find an excellent attorney to address your needs in these or any areas in which we do not practice.

History of the Firm.  For many years, M. Glenn Curran, III, practiced law with the same group of attorneys since he graduated from law school.  He originally clerked for and then became an associate with McCune Hiaasen Crum Ferris & Gardner.  In 1986, he left with seven other attorneys to form the Fort Lauderdale office of one of the country's largest national firms:  Finley Kumble Wagner Heine Underberg Manley Meyerson And Casey.  In 1988, he left Finley Kumble staying with the original group of attorneys who formed it to form their new firm: Heinrich Gordon Batchelder Hargrove Weihe & Gent.

After becoming a partner in Heinrich Gordon, in February of 1994, he left the firm to form Curran & Curran in order to be more available and personally responsive to his clients needs.  Though they had never practiced together before, he partnered with his father, Marshall Curran, Jr., -- another top-rated trial attorney practicing in South Florida since 1955.  Several years ago, however, Marshall left the practice of law to pursue . . . retirement!

After practicing as Curran & Curran for several years, Glenn Curran joined together with another second generation Florida attorney, Christopher Niles, to form the current firm Curran & Niles

Mr. Niles started his career as a lawyer in 1992 when he went to work for the firm founded in 1970 by his father, Donald Niles.  Don stopped practicing law in 1995 and went to work as a mediator full time at Mediation, Inc. where he continues to work today.

Mr. Niles' firm eventually became Niles, Dobbins, Meeks, Raleigh and Dover, LLP where he continued his practice until 2003 when he started is own firm, Christopher D. Niles, PA.  Three years later, he and Glenn Curran formed Curran & Niles.  In 2008, however, Mr. Niles retired from the practice of law to pursue a career in financial planning and wealth management.
